Last night, MMA fighter Conor McGregor was at a basketball game between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets. As a joke, he started fighting with the home team’s mascot. Unfortunately, things got out of hand, and McGregor accidentally hit the mascot so hard that it had to be taken to the hospital.
BURNIE
Images are circulating on social media showing Conor McGregor punching the mascot named Burnie. Then McGregor gives another blow, as is often the case in martial arts MMA. Normally the mascot would get back up after some painkilling spray, but it didn’t work this time. Emergency services had to intervene, and the mascot was taken to hospital. He was so bad that he needed medical attention.
PAINKILLERS
The doctors examined the mascot and gave him medicine to reduce the pain. McGregor said it happened by accident. The fans in the basketball stadium were angry with him and started screaming. In the end, the mascot was allowed to go home, but he was still suffering from his injuries.
NOT VERY SMART
“Why do mascots want to let professional fighters punch themselves in the face?” UFC boss Dana White wondered in an interview with the BBC. He continues: ”What are those mascot suits actually made of? I hope he has a metal helmet because I wouldn’t like to get myself punched in the face. That doesn’t seem very sensible to me.”
