Floyd Mayweather has told English media that he and Conor McGregor will return to the ring in 2023. Whether it will be a professional boxing match or a presentation match is not yet certain.

This weekend Mayweather will fight an exhibition match against Japan’s Mikuru Asakura and in November the undefeated former champion (50-0) will once again enter the ring for a ‘friendly’ fight. “In 2023 it will be Conor’s turn,” Mayweather said. “We don’t know yet if it will be an exhibition or a real fight, but we’ve talked about both. I’d rather have an exhibition.”

In the interview, Mayweather also says that at his age he is no longer interested in serious fights with professional boxers. “I don’t want any more fights where I can actually take damage. So guys like Conor McGregor and guys who don’t hit so hard, like YouTubers, I have no problem-fighting. But nothing to hurt myself.”

In 2017, the first fight between McGregor and Mayweather was in Las Vegas. Mayweather won the fight, extending his undefeated streak to 50 wins. A lot of money was also made with the fight: Mayweather would have earned about 300 million euros and McGregor would also have earned more than 100 million.
