Cult leader Kenya allowed followers to starve themselves to “get to heaven faster”

Police in Kenya encountered a horrific scene last week. After an anonymous tip, they found fifteen emaciated people on the grounds of a church. The police report that the cult leader Paul Makenzie Nthenge had urged his followers to starve themselves in order to “get to heaven faster” .

FOUR DEAD

After the arrival of the police, the area around the church was evacuated. Some of the victims could no longer walk or speak. Four of the cult members did not survive the forced starvation and six others are in critical condition in a hospital. There may be more deaths. There was also mention of a secret mass grave near the church. This has not yet been found.

GOOD NEWS INTERNATIONAL CHURCH

The starving individuals were all influenced by Reverend Makenzie Nthenge of the Good News International Church, a religious group that encourages members to starve themselves in order to “meet Jesus . ” The cult leader and was already arrested last month in connection with the death of two children. The kidnerne’s parents were members of his sect. He was released after a few days with a deposit of 68 euros.

VICTIMS PROSECUTED

The drama isn’t over for Makenzie Nhtenge’s followers. Attempted suicide is a criminal offense in Kenya. The surviving cult members are likely to be prosecuted for jail time, local police said.
