Drunk son escapes police after he pierced father’s left thigh with a harpoon
A drug addict rushed on the run after shooting his father in the leg with a harpoon as police officers tried to enter the house.
Last Monday evening around 10 p.m., police in Bangkok’s Rat Burana district received a call about a drunk man who set fire to the second floor of an iron foundry. The caller was the father, who said he lived on the second floor with his wife and son. However, his son, Ekkachai Saengthongdee, 31, escaped after shooting his father in the left thigh just as his father was opening the door for police officers.
With tears in her eyes, the mother told the officers that their son was unemployed and would be a drug addict who sometimes abused his parents.
She said they decided to call the police this time because Ekkachai had come home drunk and set their house on fire. She added that Ekkachai had been arrested several times before, but never sat on water and bread for too long.
The fire was quickly brought under control and the mother was invited to the district police station to testify.
The father has been admitted to Rat Burana Hospital for treatment and his testimony will be taken later.
Police have now launched a manhunt for the missing son.
