Activision showed the first gameplay trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023. The trailer shows the first mission, called Operation 627, of the single-player mode.
Operation 627 begins with Alpha Team in a submarine in the Kostovian Sea. Wearing night vision goggles, the team infiltrates an enemy base and silently takes out enemies. As they make their way through the compound, an explosion goes off, after which the fight really starts. The mission aims to thwart the villain Makarov’s plan to start a World War.
In the trailer, the emphasis is mainly on stealth gameplay, but according to developer Sledgehammer, the mission structure in Modern Warfare 3 has been overhauled. This gives players the freedom to decide for themselves how they go through missions.
Last week, Activision announced more details about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. For example, all sixteen maps from the original Modern Warfare 2 return in Modern Warfare 3. In addition, the game will receive twelve brand-new maps after launch. Furthermore, players can look forward to a revamped Zombie mode that has been described as a “completely new open world”. Furthermore, players can look forward to the return of multiplayer modes such as Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed and the new Cutthroat Mode.
