Jim Carrey has spoken out in an interview about the incident between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the Oscars and it’s clear which side he’s on. The actor thought Will’s blow was absolutely unacceptable and says he would sue him for $ 200 million if he were Chris Rock.

Jim Carrey was particularly disgusted by the standing ovation Will Smith received from the audience. “I feel like Hollywood just doesn’t have a backbone,” he said in an interview with CBS This Morning. “It really felt like this is a clear indication that we’re not part of the cool club anymore,” said Carrey, who by ‘we’ refers to Hollywood.

On Chris Rock’s decision not to press charges, Carrey said: “He doesn’t feel like the hassle. I would have announced I’m going to sue Will for $200 million because those images are going to be there forever. .” According to Carrey, no one has the right to walk on a stage and punch someone in the face “because they said certain words”.

Will Smith has since apologized to Chris Rock, The Academy, and the Oscar audience. The actor called any form of violence “toxic and destructive”. The Academy has condemned the actor’s behavior.

Chris joked while presenting that Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, with her hairdo, makes the perfect lead actress for a sequel to GI Jane. In the 1997 film, actress Demi Moore shaved her head to portray the role of GI Jane. The joke apparently went wrong with Will, as his wife suffers from the condition alopecia and therefore struggles with hair loss. After the joke, he walked on stage and punched the Oscar host in the face.
