The seaside resort of Pattaya is all set to host the very first ‘Kite on the Beach 2021’ festival from April 9-19.
A meeting held Yesterday, by the Deputy Mayor of City, Khun Ronnakit Eakkasing and the chairman of the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association, on how things should go during this kite festival.
The event will take place from April 9 to April 19 on the beach in front of Central Festival Pattaya Beach.
Ronnakit told the local press, “The festival aims to attract more domestic tourists to Pattaya and to boost the economy for Pattaya and Chonburi.”
“The largest kite will be the ‘Bowl Kite’, a huge whale previously involved with ‘Guinness World Records’, the kite is no less than 35 meters long and will be present at the festival.”
“It will be the first time that we will have LED kites in Thailand and more than 30 different types of large kites,” said Ronnakit.
The festival will essentially take place in lieu of a full-scale water fight and scheduled concerts as is normal at this time of year, but these were banned by the Thai Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration due to concerns about possible spread of the coronavirus.
This festival will also still feature traditional Songkran beach activities, including a variety of food vendors.
