Police in Mae Suay District, Chiang Rai Province, seized about 6 million methamphetamine pills and arrested a suspect after a wild chase

The suspected smugglers were spotted by Mae Suay police driving two pickup trucks on the Mae Lao-Mae Suay road in Chiang Rai’s Mae Suay district, a police spokesman said at a press conference.

Mae Suay Police chased the two vehicles and contacted Mae Lao Police to set up a checkpoint and intercept them. As they approached the checkpoint, the two pickups turned over the median strip and headed back toward Mae Suay.

Police gave chase and found one of the pickup trucks on the side of the road in Moo 1 Village in Tambon Mae Prik. The driver fled, leaving 31 bags of 5,999,000 meth pills, police said.

The other vehicle was later intercepted by police in Mae Suay on Tha Ko-Wiang Pa Pao Road. The driver was arrested.
