Real estate heir Robert Durst sentenced to life in prison for California murder

Must read

The 78-year-old American Robert Durst has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his good friend Susan Berman in 2000. The immensely wealthy millionaire accidentally talked about the murder he committed in 2015 during a television recording.

Durst talked his mouth out during the shooting of the HBO documentary The Jinx. the Life and Deaths of Robert Durst. He had gone to the bathroom between takes but had forgotten to take off his microphone. In the toilet, he then said softly to himself, “What the hell have I done? Killed them all, of course.”

According to prosecutors, Durst’s remark in the toilet was considered a confession. They have therefore benefited greatly from this evidence for the prosecution of Durst.

Made with Durst’s full cooperation, the documentary chronicled the seven-year investigation into three unsolved murders. Earlier, the film All Good Things about the millionaire was also made. It was mainly about his eccentric life as a millionaire.

Durst allegedly shot his girlfriend Susan Berman in the head in 2000 to get her out of the way. She is said to have helped him cover up the murder of his first wife Kathleen McCormack. Durst wanted to prevent her from telling that.

According to prosecutors, Durst also committed A third murder while he was in hiding in Texas in 2001. The millionaire is said to have killed his neighbour when he recognized him. Durst was eventually acquitted in that case, arguing that it was self-defence.

Last month, Durst was found guilty of the murder of Susan Berman by a jury. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with no chance of parole. His lawyers are appealing.
