A needy Swedish man who was in a wheelchair for Tuk Com in South Pattaya told police he was stranded in Pattaya due to the pandemic and had no money for food and other necessities.

The Swedish beggar was warned by the police to stop begging immediately and gave him the tip to contact his embassy.

Teerasak Jatupong, chief of the city enforcement department, took some police officers to Tukcom on South Road after complaints about a foreign man in a wheelchair asking for money.

The unidentified Swedish man told authorities he was destitute due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Police did not arrest the foreigner, but warned him that begging is illegal and told him to go back to his room. If he needed help, police told the man, he should contact his embassy, ​​Pattaya Police Station or other government agency.
