The Thailand pass should be more user-friendly

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha wants to improve the “Thailand passport” system to make it easier for foreign tourists to enter the kingdom, the national press said.

According to government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Prayut has instructed the relevant government agencies to step up their efforts to detect and correct errors in the system to facilitate the registration of foreign tourists. The prime minister also pointed out that foreign tourists are essential to revitalizing the economy.

According to Thanakorn, government authorities are taking into account the Prime Minister’s concerns and want to step up efforts to improve the system.

Meanwhile, the Digital Government Development Agency Public Organization, which is responsible for the “Thailand Passport”, has accelerated the assessment of applications and approved QR codes for tourists within seven days, the spokesman said.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) to inform hotels and foreign tourists about using the system.

According to Thanakorn, the new Thailand Pass Hotel & Swap System (TPHS) is linked to the Thailand Pass to make it easier for hotels to approve reservations and for tourists to switch hotels more easily.

The TPHS takes 10 to 15 minutes to approve requests, and Thailand Pass’s main system will confirm requests every hour, Thanakorn said.

He went on to say that the concerned authorities would add more servers to the TPHS and improve its functionality with an automatic approval feature.

The TAT, meanwhile, is launching an information campaign for hotels to join the TPHS system, which will notify them by email when new reservations are made, Thanakorn added.
