In a remote area of the Pratumnak Hill Park area in Pattaya, an (as yet) unknown man was found hanging by shoelaces from a tree late in the afternoon yesterday.
Tourist police were notified of the incident at 5:30 PM in Pratumnak Hill Park, not far from the Pattaya City sign and the Pattaya Meteorological Station.
Pattaya City police, rescue workers and “Snelle Jelle” our frantic reporter arrived on the hill to find the body of a 40-50-year-old man whose nationality could not be determined. It was found in a deeply wooded area full of dirt trails that is rarely visited in the park. It was believed he may have been Thai and of Asian descent, but Pattaya police said more investigation was needed.
The man was wearing a gray shirt, black sweatpants and sneakers. Pattaya police said he was found hanging from a tree branch with his sneakers laced up. Police said no identification documents and no sign of a struggle or altercation were found on his body.
A witness who discovered the body and asked not to be named told Jelle: “I like sports here and walk the forest trails, it’s a remote area, mostly peaceful and rarely visited, except for stray dogs that don’t come to me. be more aggressive, because I always bring dog snacks. Suddenly I smelled a foul odour while walking the nature trails and went in search of the source. Then I found the body of the deceased man and immediately called the Pattaya police.”
Police said they are continuing their investigations to identify the body and determine the exact cause of death. At this stage, it is believed to be a suicide and the man may have been in the woods for up to two days.
We will follow this story to update you on the progress of the investigation, however, Pratumnak Hill Park is currently officially closed due to Covid-19 decisions, regulations and measures.
