11 people in Thailand charged with child pornography after raids

Last week, 11 people were arrested in multiple raids in 10 provinces and charged with possession of child pornography with intent to distribute it, police said over the weekend.

The suspects were arrested after 13 raids in Chiang Rai, Nakhon Sawan, Yasothon, Khon Kaen, Phatthalung, CHONBURI, Uthai Thani, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi and Bangkok, said the director of the Center of the Royal Thai Police for the Protection of Children. .

The suspects secretly filmed them having sex with minors and sold the video clips to customers or recorded videos to blackmail victims, said Major General Thitawat Suriyachai, director of Sub-Office 4 of the Cyber ​​Crime Investigation Bureau.

About 100,000 similar cases were committed last year, he said, adding that police believe they are linked to human trafficking organizations.
