Police in the sleepy resort town of Cha Am, Phetchaburi province, have arrested a 15-year-old boy after he hit a 12-year-old friend with a hammer in a building near the beach.

After the suspect fled on a motorcycle, the police were able to make an arrest. He pulled out a gun that later turned out to be fake.

His older brother spoke of his surprise since his brother was a quiet boy but fond of violent video games.

Police from Cha-Am to Soi Nantachai called to a three-storey building between Soi Cha-Am South 1 and 2.

On the second floor, they discovered the badly beaten body of a 12-year-old boy on a bed in a second-floor room. There were many head injuries and a lot of blood spatter.

They were soon told that the attacker was a 15-year-old boy who escaped on a Skoopy-i motorcycle.

He was discovered walking along the beach north of Cha-Am. He pulled out a gun and aimed it at his chin, but it turned out to be a fake gun.

The police managed to prosecute him and take him into custody. He was largely incoherent and confused but managed to say that the other boy had made him angry.

The 12-year-old’s mother said the two boys played together a lot. Her son had left on a motorbike at 10:30 PM the previous evening. Concerned when he didn’t return, she called him and heard an argument.

A friend of the mother told Thai Rath editors that her mother had given the boy some money to go to 7-Eleven, but he did not come home. She had contacted her at 4 a.m. to try and call her son, and she heard the signs of trouble.

It was also reported that two other boys who were on the scene were followed by the attacker, but managed to escape before returning upstairs to continue his attack.

The older brother of the deceased boy said he was shocked that his brother was a quiet boy. He denied using drugs but said he was completely addicted to violent video war games.

Cha-Am police are cooperating with social services due to the age of the attacker.
