2 out of 62 gays arrested during a sex party in Faros sauna in Bangkok tested positive for the Covid19 virus
Between 2 and 62 people arrested at an alleged drug and sex party in Bangkok has been found positive for the Covid19 virus.
Large gatherings are banned in Bangkok, especially those where people have ‘close contact’ to prevent the spread of the virus. Reports say that the big gathering in the Faros Sauna was a so-called “chemsex” party with drugs to enhance sex.
After these positive results from Covid19 tests, all 30 officers who raided the room on Saturday evening were tested for the virus on Tuesday. These results have not yet been announced. Wang Thong Lang District Police Station was also disinfected as an added precaution to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Police stated that they found methamphetamine and used condoms during the raid,
the sauna staff are accused of violating disease control measures. Half of them tested positive for drugs and police have announced that those people are facing additional drug charges.
The location “claims to be the largest gay sauna in Southeast Asia,” according to travelgay.com. The venue has a Jacuzzi, dry sauna, pool, gym, dark room, private cabins, karaoke, dance hall and restaurant.
Bangkok remains the epicentre of infections with hundreds of new Covid-19 cases every day. Most of the recent infections have been concentrated in busy areas such as slums, prisons, markets and construction camps.
