The demonstrators of the Thalu Fah group gathered at the Victory Monument on Sunday evening and blocked traffic up to the Din Daeng intersection.
They reportedly threw fireworks, flares and ping pong bombs at the police to control the crowds in the area.
“Several police officers were injured,” Piya said. “After the protesters dispersed around 7 p.m., officials arrested 35 of them, confiscated 20 motorcycles, as well as some rifles and explosives.”
According to the police, the suspects have been charged with the public gathering of more than 10 people, which is in violation of the current emergency decree.
Those who possess explosives will also be prosecuted for violating the Explosives, Fireworks and Imitation Firearms Act.
General Piya added that from July 1 to August 22, the police had subpoenaed 118 people — 16 of whom were protest leaders and 102 participants in the demonstrations — so that the protesters were made aware of the charges before agents take legal action against them for their alleged crimes. role in past anti-government protests.
