Akon recently told TMZ that he had big plans with Michael Jackson to discover musical talent in Africa. The singer, known for the track Lonely, among other things , wanted to open music schools on the continent together with The King of Pop to give young people the opportunity to develop further.

Among other things, the schools Akon and Michael Jackson had in mind would provide students with instruments. Akon said that the training would mainly focus on musical development, but that other subjects would also be covered. In this way they would also be supported by professionals in bringing structure to their lives, which befits being an artist.

Furthermore, Akon says they wanted to provide students with advice to improve their skills but would also give young people advice about the music industry and everything that comes with working in the industry. According to Akon, he and Michael agreed that there was a lot of undiscovered talent in Africa.

However, the death of The King of Pop meant that the plans never got off the ground. Michael Jackson died in 2009. Speaking to TMZ, Akon indicates that he still intends to help African talent and is looking for partners to carry out the initiative.
