The governor of every province in Thailand has been tasked with drawing up emergency plans to contain the spread of the Omicron variant and suppress the illegal trade. The order was issued yesterday by the Ministry of Interior and signed by Secretary Suttipong Juljarern.
The order to prepare emergency plans came after the Covid19 infection rate is rising rapidly in many areas, caused by the super infectious Omicron variant.
The country registered 18,953 cases of Covid19 infections and 30 deaths yesterday, bringing the total to 2,712,315 and deaths to 22,624.
The capital Bangkok and provincial governors have been urged to raise public awareness of the Covid-19 situation, work with every sector to contain the viral spread, ensure strict adherence to prevention measures and prepare emergency plans for the virus. worsening crisis.
They were also tasked with tackling the illegal trade. Governors were told to step up border police patrols, community and site inspections, public awareness and law enforcement against traffickers and employers who allow immigrants to sneak into Thailand.
