Arrest Made in Fare Dispute

A motorcycle taxi rider in Pattaya was recently arrested for allegedly threatening a passenger with a knife over a fare dispute involving 40 baht. The incident occurred on April 14, 2023.

According to reports, the passenger had taken the motorcycle taxi to a nearby location and handed the rider 50 baht. The rider allegedly claimed that the fare was 90 baht and demanded an additional 40 baht from the passenger. When the passenger refused to pay, the rider reportedly pulled out a knife and threatened the passenger.

Police were notified of the incident and quickly located the rider. He was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon in public, as well as making threats and attempting to extort money from the passenger.

The police have reminded the public to be careful when taking motorcycle taxis and to agree on a fare before starting the journey. They have also urged anyone who experiences similar incidents to report them to the police immediately.
