Bangkok police raid sauna, arrested 60 employees and visitors

Must read

Last Saturday night, police from Wang Thong Lang Bureau raided “Sauna Faros” at Ramkhamhaeng Soi 21 in Bangkok for alleged violations of the emergency decree, the communicable diseases law and the announcement of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

The raid was carried out after people in the area informed police that the sauna was allegedly used for drug use and could likely spread the Covid19 virus.

Police reportedly found packets of methamphetamine, a narcotic drug, a syringe and used condoms in the area, while 14 of the approximately 60 employees and visitors reportedly admitted using drugs.

“The police team would question employees, visitors and Jinna Kritjinda, 63, who claimed to be the owner of the sauna, and check for drugs,” said Colonel Ekkaphop Tanprasert, chief inspector at Wang Thong Lang police station.

“They will initially be charged with violating the state of emergency, the Communicable Diseases Act and the BMA announcement, while those who used drugs would face additional charges under the narcotics laws.”
