‘REST IN PEACE’

Pelé’s daughter shares the news via an emotional message on Instagram. “All we are is because of you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace ,” writes Kely Nascimento. Pelé had been treated for colon cancer since the summer of last year. In September, a tumor was removed from his colon. A year later he had to go to the hospital again because the situation in his intestines worsened again. Since then, Pelé has not left the hospital.

LEGEND

Pele is one of the greatest footballers of all time. The Brazilian is the only player in history to win the World Cup three times. In 1958, as a 17-year-old, he was no less than six times accurate at the World Cup, which was eventually won.

Pelé mainly played for the Brazilian club Santos. At the end of his career he played for the American New York Cosmos for two more years. In total he scored no fewer than 1,281 goals in 1,363 matches.
