British government puts Thailand on the red list of Covid19 countries

The British government has said it will post the Kingdom of Thailand “red list” of travel next Monday. That is a list where foreigners from those countries are not allowed to travel to England, and their nationals must be quarantined.

“Thailand will be added to the red list on Monday, August 30, 2021, from 4 a.m.,” due to the increased cases of coronavirus in the country, the transport ministry said.

British and Irish citizens and people living in the UK are allowed to travel from Red List countries but must be quarantined in a hotel for 10 days on arrival.

Thailand will move into the red category as low vaccination levels leave Asia vulnerable to new coronavirus variants, along with Montenegro.

The government added Switzerland, Denmark and Canada to the green list.

Travellers from those destinations will no longer have to be quarantined, regardless of their vaccination status.
