Thirteen people were injured in a shooting at a subway station in the New York borough of Brooklyn around 08:30 local time. Five of the injured were shot by the gunman, US media reported.
Photos circulating on social media show people with gunshot wounds being treated at the 36th Street subway station in Sunset Park. Other injured were rushed to hospital. The injuries of people who were not shot are as yet unclear.

According to the police, explosives were also found in the station, but they turned out not to be armed. According to eyewitnesses, the gunman is a male suspect in an orange safety vest. He would also wear a gas mask. Emergency services are massively present at the crime scene and New York police are asking people to avoid the area around the subway station for an investigation.
