Chonburi Region 2 forensic police have come to the rescue and re-inspected the burnt remains of the Nashaa Club on Pattaya’s Walking Street a few days ago for what they believe was the last time before coming to a conclusion about the cause of the fire.

In September, a major fire broke out overnight during a mandatory nationwide Covid curfew at a closed nightclub on Walking Street in Pattaya, causing estimated millions of baht in damage, according to fire officials.

A team from Chonburi Forensic Police Region 2 inspected the remains of the club the day before yesterday (November 13). Months after the fire, the cause is still under extensive investigation amid alleged disputes over the cause between those involved with the site.

Major General Thanong Thongpradap, the commander of the Region 2 Forensic Police, told the associated Thai press: “This is our last scheduled inspection before determining the cause of the fire.”

“It is in principle possible that the fire really started due to an electrical short circuit. However, there is more evidence and witnesses to collect and talk with and we need to continue our investigation,” explained Thanong.

“We have to be very careful with the investigation to find the exact cause of the fire as there are many parties involved in this location and have different views on what allegedly happened. After we complete our investigation, we will send our investigation result to the Pattaya Police Department as soon as possible for further investigation.” Thanong concluded.

A timetable for when a final announcement about the cause of the fire would be revealed was not given by Major General Thanong. Thanong has not clarified the alleged disputes between those involved in the location, leading to an in-depth investigation.
