Cuba Gooding Jr. avoids prison sentence through settlement in sexual misconduct case
Cuba Gooding Jr. will not be jailed for sexually assaulting three women in 2018 and 2019. The actor has complied with all the conditions of the settlement and therefore does not have to go to prison.
Gooding was arrested in 2019 after a woman accused him of kissing her without permission. Two other women would have been groped by the actor in 2018 and 2019. These three incidents would all have been admitted by Gooding, Deadline reports based on court documents.
Cuba Gooding Jr.’s forcible touching case faded to black with no jail time for the movie star, some of the dozens of women who have accused him of inappropriate behavior criticized the outcome as a slap on the wrist — and a slap in the face. https://t.co/VJ3utSV1nl pic.twitter.com/A6dw8mdzqe

The actor reached a settlement in which he had to follow six months of therapy with guidance on alcohol use and behavioural change. Gooding has decided to continue with the therapy after the verdict. If he had not complied with all the conditions, he would have received a prison sentence of up to one year.
Gooding does not have to go to jail for sexual misconduct, but there is still a case against him for rape. A woman claims to have been raped twice by Gooding in New York in 2013. He denies that.
