To ease congestion at Thailand’s international airports, the kingdom’s authorities have temporarily abolished the requirement for an immigration form TM-6

Thailand’s international airports are temporarily abolishing the requirement for foreign passengers to fill out the TM-6 immigration form. The measure is needed to ease congestion at the kingdom’s international airports, the Bangkok Post reported.

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha said he would shorten the process for foreign visitors, as multiple forms are now required to be filled out upon arrival in the country. This will help reduce congestion at airports as the number of foreign visitors arriving has increased, the prime minister added.

The Interior Ministry will make the necessary changes to the regulations within a week. Authorities will later assess the results of the cancellation of the TM-6 immigration form and decide whether to revise the procedure if they encounter problems in tracing foreign nationals in the country, Prayuth explained.

Thailand’s immigration police will continue to collect data on arriving foreigners through biometric systems at airports, while other data on travelers is provided by airlines, added government spokesperson Traisuri Taisaranakul. And reminded that foreign travelers entering Thailand by land or sea are still required to fill in an immigration form TM-6.

Thai nationals do not need to fill in the TM-6 immigration form from 2017.
