Family drama in Kanchanaburi, 3 sisters missing in Kanchanaburi River

Three sisters belonging to the Mon tribe have been missing since last night in the Kwai Noi River in Sai Yok district after she and a neighbor tried to help their youngest sister, 7 years old, who drowned in the strong current on Wednesday night. The youngest sister and the neighbor were pulled to the shore.

The divers and rescuers immediately started looking for the missing sisters last night. Today no trace of them had been found.

Tambon Sai Yok’s kamnan Yuenyong Pannarong said today that the missing people were twin sisters Jamphee and Jampha, aged 18, and Nan, 15, who were all close relatives.

According to the kamnan, seven people went swimming in the Kwai Noi River in Dao Dueng village – four sisters and three other family members. Allen belonged to the Mon ethnic tribe, who lived in the village of Kaeng Jor in Tambon Sai Yok.

While playing in the water, the youngest sister went under. The three siblings ran into the water to help, but the current was too strong and the Vachiralongkorn Dam was draining water at the time.

While the three girls tried to help their youngest sister, a neighbor identified as Khun Ya carried her daughter along the riverbank. She put her daughter down and jumped into the river to help. Soon she was joined by her husband. He managed to pull his wife and the seven-year-old to shore, but the three sisters were swept away by the strong current.

Khun Ya passed out and was sent to a nearby hospital before being transferred to Paholpolpayuhasena Hospital.

When this report was translated, the three brothers and sisters had not yet been found.
