First batch of Chinese tourists released from quarantine, ready to tour Thailand
Thai authorities announced today that the first batch of special tourist visa Thai tourists have been released from quarantine and will begin traveling the country.
According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand the first group numbers a total of 39 tourists.
They have been given smart band trackers to use for an undisclosed period of time and are expected to immediately start visiting local businesses according to the Tourism Authority who expects them to spend an average of 5000 baht a day.
The Tourism Authority said this was good news and a good first step for business owners. The Pattaya News notes that normally at this time of year as many as 110,000 tourists arrived in the country daily heading into Thai season and that 39 tourists is unlikely to make any significant impact. However, it is a first step.
