Grandfather and four grandchildren killed by escaped prisoner

What was supposed to be a fun family outing on a Texas ranch ended in a bloodbath for a grandfather and his four grandchildren An escaped convict shot and killed the family.

Mark Collins (66) went on Thursday with his four grandsons Waylon (18), Karson (16), Hudson (11), and Bryson (11) to a ranch northwest of Houston. The men would go hunting, boating on the lake, and fishing.

The family outing was brutally disrupted by the fugitive Gonzalo Lopez (46). The man escaped three weeks ago while on a transport in Texas. On the way to a doctor’s appointment, the prisoner managed to free himself from his hand and ankle cuffs. He then broke open the metal cage he was in and attacked the driver. Lopez then ran into the woods. The police searched for him with all their might, but in vain.

It was later revealed that Lopez was hiding in the house next to the ranch where the Collins family was staying. The five were murdered a few hours after arrival. Lopez then left with the family’s clothes, weapons, and car. Shortly afterwards, officers saw Lopez driving in Jourdanton, 350 miles from the ranch. A nail mat was then laid out, which prevented Lopez from driving any further. The killer fired on the police, but he himself was killed in that hail of bullets.
