Olivia Newton-John, known for her role as Sandy in Grease , has died. That was announced last night via her Instagram account. The British-Australian actress and singer suffered from breast cancer and turned 73 years old.
Olivia Newton-John became world famous in 1978 when she co-starred with John Travolta in the musical film Grease. Their accompanying songs became number 1 hits. Olivia previously released other music and won four Grammys.
“You made our lives so much better,” John Travolta wrote on Instagram. “Your impact was incredible.”
In 2019, Olivia was knighted by the British Queen for her contribution to cancer research. She passed away at her home in California surrounded by family and friends. The exact cause of death has not been disclosed.
