Rockstar Games officially announced at the beginning of last year that GTA 6 is in development. Apart from that, it is still unknown when we can expect the game, but that will change this year if we can believe game journalist Tom Henderson. The usually well-informed insider claims that the reveal of GTA 6 is scheduled for sometime in 2023.
Henderson says via Insider Gaming that he has a strong suspicion that GTA 6 will be revealed this year. The insider bases his claim on existing rumors and the way Rockstar Games announced its games in the past. Henderson thinks that GTA 6 will be released in 2024 or 2025, which would mean that the reveal will take place one or two years earlier.
Rockstar Games announced GTA V in October 2011. The game was initially supposed to be released in the spring of 2013 but was then pushed back to September 17, 2013. Red Dead Redemption 2 also had a similar release. The game was announced in October 2016 and was scheduled to release a year later. In the end, the launch only took place in October 2018.
It is not the first time that there has been speculation about a possible release of GTA 6 in 2024. Last year, internal documents from Microsoft showed that the tech giant also expects the game to see the light of day next year.
At the end of September, as many as 90 videos of Grand Theft Auto 6 had been leaked on the GTAForums forum by someone calling himself a ‘teapotuberhacker’. The hacker claims to have obtained the videos through Rockstar’s internal Slack channel. Slack is a communication program that many companies use to communicate with each other internally.
The videos shared online cover different stages of the game’s development. Some show new characters (like the female character promised earlier ), and others are just simple animation tests.
