Must read

HONG KONG — Hong Kong activist Joshua Wong has been arrested amid ongoing protests in Hong Kong, according to his political party.

The 22-year-old activist, who served time in jail for his role in Hong Kong’s 2014 Occupy movement, was detained Friday morning, the Demosisto party said in a statement.

“He was suddenly pushed into a private car on the street,” Wong’s political party Demosisto said on its official Twitter account.

“He has now been escorted to the police headquarters in Wan Chai,” it said, adding its lawyers were working on the case.

His arrest comes after police banned a mass anti-government protest planned for Saturday.
