CCTV footage from Kham Thale So Police Station showed a detained suspect managed to free himself from his handcuffs, then used his fists to attack the police officer.
The incident took place last Tuesday after a suspect at Kham Thale So Police Station in Nakhon Ratchasima Province somehow managed to free himself from shackles.
Police station chief Colonel Wuttichai Sukonthawit said the man had been arrested for setting fire to the property of others. A witness stated that the suspect was a drug addict.
“The man was held in handcuffs after arriving at the police station. However, he was able to escape thanks to his long-sleeved shirt,” said Colonel Wuttichai.
“The man tried to hit the policeman while he was making the report, luckily the officer was able to parry the attack. Other officers then came to their colleague’s aid to get ‘Houdini’ under control.”
The attacker was charged with taking drugs, assaulting police and vandalizing people’s property. His bail has been refused and for the time being, he is allowed to devise new escape attempts behind bars.
