Pattaya police arrested a serial robber who was arrested at least 19 times on charges of robbing tourists in Pattaya

A serial robber specializing in single Russian tourists has been arrested in Pattaya after robbing a Russian tourist, Pattaya police said. The suspect, a native of Chonburi, has been detained on similar charges 19 times.

On February 23, 59-year-old Russian tourist Natalia Vinokut was strolling along the road on Soi 14 in the Naklya area of north Pattaya when an unknown man on a motorcycle drove up to the woman and snatched her smartphone from her hands.

The robbed woman immediately reported the incident to the Pattaya Police Station. Police launched an investigation and quickly located and identified the robber through surveillance footage.

The suspect turned out to be 54-year-old Rungroja Sangkasinsu. The man was arrested at his home on charges of stealing a smartphone from a Russian woman. A search conducted at the suspect’s home resulted in the discovery of the Russian tourist’s smartphone, as well as the motorcycle that was used in the robbery.

According to Pattaya police, the suspect is a serial robber of Russian tourists and has been arrested 19 times for similar episodes. The man often attacks Russian female tourists walking alone and carrying a purse.

The suspect is currently in police custody awaiting further legal action. It is unknown whether the suspect will be released on bail or awaiting a court decision in a prison cell.
