Korat police come under heavy fire after using a police van for a trip to the beach

Provincial Police in northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima are investigating the case of a police van allegedly used to transport a group of police officers to the beach in central Phetchaburi province. In all television news, this ‘unbearable’ news is reported as very important news, with the video images of the officers getting out of the van and having a meal on the beach were extensively measured.

Panurat Lakboon, Chief Commissioner of Region 3 Provincial Police, ordered an investigation after video of people getting out of the police van on Cha-am beach went viral.

Online commentators questioned the use of a police vehicle for such activity. The police van in question belongs to the Phon Kran Police Station.

Chief Commissioner Panurat says Major General Pornchai Nonwachai informed him of the incident and ordered a commission of inquiry to investigate the matter.

The regional chief says the investigation must be completed within seven days.

Initial findings showed that Nakhon Ratchasima Police had not been called to Phetchaburi for any official matter. Panurat added that if the investigation reveals that Phon Krang Police Station officers used the van for personal use, they will face disciplinary action.
