A man in the northeastern Thai province of Kalasin is said to have committed a short-lived crime this weekend. On Friday, the man is said to have robbed a supermarket and looted 30,000 baht.

The next day, on Saturday morning, the man is said to have robbed a gold shop. The police arrested the man as he left the gold shop, but they found drugs on him but not an ounce of gold.

Detnarong Wannasang, 27, was arrested outside the Yaowarat firm’s gold shop in Nakhu district.

Police searched the man and found only 19 methamphetamine pills on him. The day before, the police had received a report that a supermarket had been robbed. After the first robbery, the police checked CCTV footage to identify the perpetrator, but were unable to determine who he was based on the footage.

The next day, the man robbed the gold shop, but the owner of the shop alerted police with a silent alarm that the shop was the target of a robbery. It is not clear why the man robbed the gold shop, as the police did not find an ounce of gold on the suspect. Police have charged Detnarong with theft and possession of illegal drugs.
