Boudreaux told local reporters that the massacre was targeted and believed to be the result of violence between criminal gangs. “We think this family was targeted.” A week before the murder, police searched the same house in a drug trafficking investigation. A man was arrested and weapons and drugs were seized.
The village of Goshen in Tulare County has a population of around 5,000 and has been battling drug crime for decades. Several major American drug traffickers have lived there, including the founder of the Mexican cartel Los Zetas: José María Guízar Valencia.
