A nine-year-old boy and his six-year-old sister tragically drowned in a pond in Ban Bueng district over the weekend, relatives and local authorities told local press.
Emergency services were informed last weekend of the accident involving a fig, the pond in question is 10 meters wide, 15 meters long and about three meters deep.
The two young fatalities were identified by relatives as a nine-year-old boy, Anucha Watayotha, and his six-year-old sister, Thitaya Watayotha.
Local residents had rescued little Thitaya from the water before first responders arrived. Thitaya was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead by medics on arrival.
Anucham’s body was later found in the pond by a rescue diver.
