Oscar Nominations: The Complete List

Must read

It’s almost that time again: on Sunday, March 27, the Oscars will be awarded for the 94th time. Today, the organization behind the Academy Awards announced the nominations. Netflix film The Power of the Dog has the most nominations (12), followed by the cinema hit Dune (10).

Another Netflix film with a shot at multiple frames, including Best Picture, is Don’t Look Up starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.

King Richard, the film about the father of Serena and Venus Williams, also scores well in the nomination list with six entries. Will Smith, who plays the lead role, is nominated for Best Actor. He takes on Javier Bardem (Being the Ricardos), Benedict Cumberbatch ( The Power of the Dog), Andrew Garfield (Tick, Tick… Boom!) and Denzel Washington ( Tragedy of Macbeth). With this nomination, the latter is the most nominated black actor ever (ten times).

King Richard also gave Beyoncé her first Oscar nomination. She is listed with the song Be Alive that she wrote for the film. In the Best Original Song category, she will compete against Billie Eilish’s No Time To Die from the James Bond film of the same name.

The Best Actress award goes between Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter), Penélope Cruz (Parallel Mothers), Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos) and Kristen Stewart (Spencer). In the Best Animated Film category, the contenders are Encanto, Flee, Luca, The Michtells vs. the Machines and Raya and the Last Dragon.

The name Troy Kotsur may not mean much to you, but the American is the first deaf actor to be nominated for an Oscar. He has a chance to win the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in CODA.
