Pattaya City Officials Investigate Alleged Public Parking Fee Scams at Bali Hai Pier

Officials of this coastal town visited Bali Hai pier on Feb. 22, to check reports from local residents and domestic tourists about the individuals allegedly charging money for parking around the pier.

The officials who inspected the pier was led by Pattana Boonsawad, the deputy mayor of Pattaya City, who visited the site with his staff.

According to Pattana, public parking around the pier and on the way to the lighthouse is free and intended as a convenience for visitors to the pier.

However, Pattana stated that multiple complaints had been made to City Hall and the 1337 hotline was red-hot about groups of men forcing visitors to pay 300 baht in parking for each vehicle. If someone refused to pay, they wouldn’t hesitate to threaten.

Pattana stated that city officials stationed at the pier have been instructed to keep their eyes peeled for those trying to extort parking fees and reminded the public to immediately call service number 1337 to request assistance from the police. town and complain when someone tries to rip them off.

Please note that this isn’t the first time there have been complaints about people trying to make others pay for public parking, the same problem played out on Pattaya Beach Road last year.
