Pattaya rescue volunteers opened a real coffee shop on Jomtien’s Beach Road
The volunteer employee at the Sawang Boriboon foundation, Suttipong Boonmachai, came up with the idea to open his own coffee shop following a tip from an Israeli team advisor.
The opened coffee shop on Jomtien’s Beach Road also serves as the base for the marine rescue volunteer team and aims to fund their mission of helping drowning people at sea.
The Jomtien Beach Road shop, called ‘Rescue Coffee’, is where members of the rescue team of the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation will hang out before and after their rescues.
Volunteer Suttipong Boonmachai said he got the idea to open the coffee shop from Israeli squadron adviser Tamia Ron, who told him about the low rents available near the beach during the current coronavirus outbreak.
He decided that a portion of the store’s profits would go to support the crew’s expenses, such as fuel and travel.
The store quickly gained a following, not only among rescue volunteers, but also among doctors and journalists, all of whom receive special discounts. Suttipong said some foreigners have walked in to watch the sunset.
Suttipong said he and the staff pay a lot of attention to the taste of the coffee, which is made from different beans. Rescue Coffee also serves cakes and other drinks.
