Two Thai men were arrested last night for allegedly committing a Covid-19 vaccination registration scam from a flat in the Din Daeng area of Bangkok.

The operation, led by the commander of the railway police, Major General Amnat Traipoj, also resulted in the arrest of five other suspects who were found in different locations.

The gang had reportedly charged people between 400 and 1,200 baht to register for a Covid-19 shot.

The case came to light in July when thousands of people showed up at the Bang Sue Central Vaccination Center claiming they had registered for a vaccination, but their names were not on the official registration lists. The center then hired a lawyer to file a report with the police.

Police have been collecting evidence over the past two months and have asked the criminal court to issue arrest warrants.

The gang is said to have made up to 360,000 by cheating nearly 8,000 people.
