Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has placed himself in isolation after returning from Phuket, where he was pictured next to a director who later tested positive for Covid19 virus.
The prime minister was pictured in a selfie posted by Veerasak Pisanuwong, president director of Surin’s Chamber of Commerce, during the opening ceremony of the “sandbox” in Phuket on July 1.
Veerasak announced on Sunday that he took a smear test in the morning at Surin Hospital and that the result was positive at 4.30 pm. He was then admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said Prime Minister Prayut will continue to carry out his duties from home and closely monitor the Covid19 situation in the country.
“The Prime Minister also asked citizens to strictly adhere to the DMHTT agreements, which are distancing, wearing masks, washing hands, testing and checking in at ThaiChana even if they have been vaccinated,” he said.
