Thailand’s Queen Suthida Vachiralongkorn celebrates her 44th birthday on June 3

Born Suthida Batjrasuthapimalakshan (Nui), she is the fourth wife of King Rama X and the current Queen of Thailand.

Suthida worked as a stewardess for Thai Airways before coming to the attention of then Crown Prince Mahi Vachiralongkorn in 2010.

Nui quickly made a career in the crown prince’s personal guard, holding the post of general. In August 2014, she was appointed deputy commander of the crown prince’s family guard. And after his divorce, the Western media began to write about their romantic relationship.

On December 1, 2016, Suthida was appointed commander of the Royal Guard’s Special Operations Unit and promoted to the rank of general, and on June 1, 2017, after the reorganization of the Royal Security Command, she became acting commander of Rama X’s personal guard. Vachiralongkorn also bestowed upon her the title of Tanwing (Lady).

Three years ago, on May 1, 2019, King Rama X of Thailand formally married Suthida and proclaimed her queen of Thailand.

The Cabinet approved June 3 as the new national holiday. The birthday of the Queen of Thailand has been declared a public holiday and a day off in the country.
