R Kelly has been in prison for almost three years, but has to appear in court again today. In Chicago, the case for possession and trafficking of child porn begins today.
Kelly was sentenced this summer in New York to 30 years in prison for sexual abuse, human trafficking, extortion, possession of child pornography and leading a decades-long plan to recruit women and underage girls to sexually abuse them. However, it does not stop there: he must also appear in Chicago because of the trafficking of child pornography.
In this new case, six people claim to have been sexually abused by the singer when they were minors. Because it would have been filmed during the acts, it would be child porn. Kelly has previously vehemently denied these allegations.
In addition to possession and trafficking of child pornography, Kelly is also suspected of obstructing justice during his child pornography trial in 2008. He is said to have covered up allegations of child abuse when he previously appeared in Chicago. He would also have received help from two employees. For these charges, the singer faces a further 10 years in prison, on top of the 30 years he received in New York.
