Saudi Arabia changes law for Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez

Cristiano Ronaldo brings about quite a lot. He recently made the daring move to the Saudi club Al Nassr. Now he is bringing about a real change in the law in the country so that he can still live with his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez .

The Portuguese superstar recently signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Al Nassr, also moving to the Middle East. His family followed him, but that caused some problems. It is illegal in Saudi Arabia to live together if you are not married to each other. Ronaldo immediately indicated that it was not an option for him not to live with his girlfriend and children.

It seems that Ronaldo is being listened to. According to Arab media , the state is in the process of submitting a bill that will officially make it possible for the two to live together. This exception will then only apply to Ronaldo and Rodriguez.

However, the authorities seem to be a lot less strict on this law lately anyway. A state attorney tells EFE that they recently started “turning a blind eye . ” “The state will no longer prosecute anyone for violating this law. The laws will mainly be used when and there is a problem or crime.”

From a Western perspective it seems only natural that everyone can live together, but in the Middle East it is a big step. The transfer of Ronaldo brings even more attention to this issue and seems to yield a lot more than just a bigger bank account for the player and a good game of football for the Saudi club.
