School in Nakhon Ratchasima closes girls’ dormitory after 2 nighttime burglaries
All 250 girls have been taken from their dormitory at Triamudomsuksanomklao School in Korat’s main district after two burglaries and assaults this month.
Thanong Khiawkaew, principal of the school in tambon Khok Kruad, said he had taken the students out of the girls’ dormitory for their own safety and told them to study online from home until the first week of January.
Management would improve the dormitory security during this time and the girls can then safely return to their classes at school, he said.
The last break-in in the dormitory was around 2 a.m. Monday. Two girls said a man entered their room on the second floor. They woke up because he touched their legs before taking off with 700 baht in cash.
The incident followed a previous burglary on December 1, when a man entered the same girls’ dormitory, touched the legs of many students and took about 2,000 baht.
The intruder was seen on surveillance camera footage as a tall, thin man with long hair.
The school principal said more barbed wire and lights would be installed and the undergrowth would be removed. He also warned students to always lock their rooms.
