Security forces were required to be deployed last night after 500 Covid19 patients, all residents of Myanmar, attempted to escape from a field hospital in Phetchaburi province during a power outage, a news source reports.
The field hospital was set up at Cal-Comp Electronics Thailand’s factory in Khao Yoi District, about 100 kilometres southwest of Bangkok after 682 employees tested positive earlier this month.
“Around 6:00 pm an electrical failure occurred in the hospital, causing electrical fans to stop working,” the source said. About 500 patients tried to escape from the building due to the hot and busy conditions. ”
More than 50 police officers from Khao Yoi Police Station, 15 Military Province soldiers and public health personnel in PPE suits had to be deployed to control the situation, which remains unresolved this Friday morning.
