Some residents in Pattaya are still suffering from the flooding that has caused extensive damage to their homes after Wednesday morning’s summer storm ravaged the coastal town.

According to the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD), several days of torrential rain and potentially flash flooding could control life this week.

The residents of Soi Wat Boon Kanjanaram 5, where about 100 houses are located, are still dealing with flooding up to a meter high. This is not far from the Riviera apartment in Jomtien.

Many of the villagers chose to leave their homes during the mounting floods and stayed in elevated shelters during the worst of the storms. Over the next few days, residents were seen using rowboats to get around the local community, especially when it came to helping transport elderly neighbours.

Pattaya city officials, including the mayor’s wife, also donated food, water and supplies to those hardest hit by the floods.

More rain will fall in the coming days, although residents hope it won’t be as severe as the most recent storms.
