Netflix has finally dropped the first-ever trailer for the fourth season of Stranger Things. And a new, creepy enemy is on the way, as the images show.
In an interview with IGN, the series’ creators, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, revealed that the new enemy is called ‘Vecna’. For the new character, the Duffer brothers took inspiration from various horror characters that used to terrify them, such as Freddy Kruger, Pinhead, and Pennywise. In the trailer, among other things, Vecna can be heard saying the following words: “Your suffering is almost at an end.”
Of course, the main characters Dustin, Eleven, Lucas, Max, Mike and Will can also be seen in the trailer, who have clearly aged a lot. Due to the corona pandemic, the recordings were stopped for a long time.
One thing the Duffer brothers could already reveal is that a lot of time will be spent in the Upside Down in the new season. “Because of the storyline, we didn’t go to the Upside Down at all last season. This season we really wanted to go back and spend some time there. That’s something we’re really excited about this season. We’ll be spending more time in the Upside Down than in any other season.”
Fans of the series won’t have to wait long for the new season. The first part will be released on Netflix on May 27. The second part will be released on July 1.
